  • Where is the cottage located?
    The address is: 89 Old Woman's River Rd., Lions Head, ON . N0H 1W0 This is about a 2.5hour drive from Guelph heading up Hwy 6 Half way up the Bruce Penninsula (approx halfway between Wiarton and Tobermory)
  • Is the cottage near water?
    Yes, we are 6 cottages from Lake Huron found at the end of our road. Also, Sandy Beach is within walking distance. Beautiful beach which describes itself. Sandy and shallow which is great for all. All great for swimming and boating. We also have bikes and a wagon for going to the beach as well and plenty of sand toys.
  • Is the cottage water drinkable?
    Yes, the water is a spring fed well, very clean and very drinkable.
  • Are pets welcome?
    We do welcome well behaved dogs. Need to be on a leash outside and do not get up on the furniture inside. On site we do have the following items for use: - dog dishes - corkscrew for the leash in the grass and a leash - medium sized crate.
  • What is included/ what do we need to bring?
    We do our best to make this a stress free time for you. We have bedding, towels, dish clothes, tea towels, beach towels that you are welcome to use. Please be sure to wash them on site and replace before leaving. Toilet paper, hand soap, dishsoap and laundry detergent are on site for your use We have wood for the campfire onsite
  • What do we do with the garbage?
    First to reduce garbage we do have a composte bin in the cottage to transport your fruit and vegetable waste to the composter found behind the garage. There is a recyling program too that you would put out with the garbage on Monday morning Garbage and recycling is picked up on Monday morning at the side of the road to the side of the driveway in our tidy bin which you need to put the yellow flag up to indicate a pick up is required If you miss this date or have more than 3 black garbages full you can either bring it to the dump at Stokes Bay Rd which turns to West Road in between Spry Rd and Little Pike Bay Rd.
  • Is the cottage year round?
    Yes, the cottage is a fully insulated log home approx 1540 sq ft. There is also 2 bunkies for additional living space. The main heat source is the propane stove with electric baseboard for backup. We do have lawn and snow maintenance year round.
  • How much is it to rent?
    Cottage rental available at $355 per night for up to 8 people. If there are additional guests it is $30 per night per guest over 8. During peak season the week runs Sunday check in anytime to Sunday check out anytime. This gives you time to hit the beach one more time, clean up and enjoy a full day. A damage deposit of $200 is held until confirmation that the cottage was left clean and no damage was incurred.
  • How do we book a rental?
    You are welcome to either email us at info@TheBakerRetreat.com or give us a call at 519-362-5422 and we will send you our rental agreement. All rentals require a 50% deposit at the time of booking The remaining 50% is required within 30days before the arrival date. A $200 damage deposit is required If for any reason you need to cancel your booking and it is more than 30 days notice a full refund of the initial 50% will be given. If for any reason you need to cancel and it is within 14-29 days notice you will receive half of the initial 50% deposit. If for any reason you need to cancel and it is under 14 days notice you will not recieve a refund back of the initial 50% deposit.
  • When is check in/out?
    Check in is during the peak season is 4pm onward on the Sunday and check out is anytime Sunday (up to 2pm) During the off season this can vary but we always try to heir on the side of generous so you can enjoy the Bruce longer.
